How to edit your own website — and get one built in minutes
This is the full walkthrough of our one-page website service — from "I don't have a website" to a live page you're in control of. The short version: you fill in one 5-minute brief, your site is built within minutes as a private preview, and the moment you pay it goes live on your own address — from then on you edit it yourself from your dashboard whenever you like. Here's every step, honestly.
Step 1 — Get your website built: request it from your dashboard (free)
You need a free GoMarty account — email and a password, that's all. Once you're in, your dashboard has a "One-page website" section. Tap request, tell us your business name and trade, and you get your private intake link. No payment, no card, nothing due at this point.
Step 2 — Fill in the brief (about 5 minutes)
The brief is six short steps, doable on your phone. Everything on your future site comes from what you tell us here:
- Your services and prices. The heart of the page. Be specific — "Geyser repairs — from R4,500" filters out time-wasters better than "plumbing services".
- Where you work. Your towns and suburbs — this is what Google matches you against.
- Contact details. Phone, WhatsApp, email — the buttons your customers will tap.
- Hours and emergencies. Open Saturdays? 24/7 call-outs? Say so — it changes how the page sells you.
- Photos. Real job photos beat stock every time. A few decent phone pics are perfect.
- Look and feel. Pick a colour and a style. No logo? We'll make you a clean one as part of the build — yours to keep.
- Language. English or Afrikaans — we write it the way your customers speak.
Step 3 — Your private preview, within minutes
The moment you submit, your site is built from your brief — usually within minutes — and lands as a private preview at preview.gomarty.net/yourbusiness. It's the real thing: your services, your photos, your details, with a small Draft badge at the bottom and invisible to Google. You get an email with your preview link, and we check every site ourselves.
To take it live: pay the R1,500 setup from your dashboard and your site moves to yourbusiness.gomarty.net within minutes — badge off, submitted to Google, address yours. The R299/month (hosting, security certificate, analytics, edits) only starts 7 days after go-live. No contract. The preview stays available for 7 days; after that it quietly hides (nothing is deleted) and a once-off R150 reactivation brings it back for another 7.
How to edit your website yourself — the part you'll actually use
Things change: prices go up, you add a service, hours change for December. You don't phone anyone or wait for anyone. On your dashboard, under your live site, tap "Edit my site":
- Change your tagline, services and prices (up to 12), hours, areas, contact details, emergency status
- Switch your colour and style
- Turn whole sections on or off (quote form, price list, bookings, reviews)
Hit save and your site rebuilds itself and is live again in about a minute. Unlimited edits, included in your monthly — no ticket, no waiting, no "we'll get back to you". Your wording stays exactly as it was unless you change it, and every version is kept, so you can't break anything.
What to email us about instead
Two things stay a human job, and both are included in your R299/month: photo swaps (send the new photos, we place them properly) and bigger changes (a new section, a different structure, a second page). Mail hello@gomarty.net from your account email.
Getting found on Google
Your site ships with the files Google needs, and we submit it to Google Search Console automatically when you go live — that's handled. If you want your own Search Console access (the exact words people search to find you), one upload on your dashboard and it's yours. Our free guides walk you through it, plus Google Business Profile — the other half of being findable:
- Google Search Console, in plain English
- Google Business Profile setup for trades
- Reading your visitor numbers
Fair questions
- "How often can I edit?" As often as you like. Daily, if you want. It's included.
- "Can I break my site?" No. Every edit saves a new version and rebuilds the whole page cleanly — there's no half-edited state, and we keep the history.
- "What if I hate it?" Before you pay, you owe nothing for the build — the preview is free to look at. If you pay and regret it, talk to us — we'll always try to make it right.
- "Can I use my own .co.za?" Yes — you register it (±R100–R200/year), we point it at your site. What a domain should cost →
- "Is it mine?" Your content, your photos, your customers — yes. Leave any time and we hand over your content and redirect your address.
